
Stop Overpaying for Biesse Infrared Lamps
If you run a Biesse edge bander, you know the drill. You need that glue to melt perfectly—not too cold, or it won’t stick; not too hot, or you’re scorching your boards. But when those OEM infrared lamps finally give out, the price tag on the official replacements can feel like a punch in the gut. We decided to fix that. We built our own quartz infrared lamps that slide right into your machine without the “branded” price hike. The “Will It Actually Fit?” Part There’s nothing worse than ordering a part, spending an hour taking the machine apart, and realizing the new lamp is 2mm too long to fit the socket. It’s frustrating. That’s why we obsess over the measurements. Whether your machine runs on 230V or 400V, we match the voltage and wattage exactly. No tripping breakers. No overheating contactors. Just a lamp that fits the R7s or SK15 sockets perfectly the first time. You just wire it up and get back to work. Better Heat, Less Burn We use high-purity quartz glass because these things take a beating with constant thermal shock. The magic here is short-wave infrared. Instead of wasting energy heating up the air around the machine, the heat goes straight into the glue bead. Some of our lamps even have a special coating to help stop that annoying “burn-in” you sometimes see on PVC or ABS edges. It keeps the heat where it belongs. A Few Tips from the Shop Floor Look, these perform just as well as the expensive brands, but you might need to do a little tweaking. Domestic quartz can ramp up a bit differently than the OEM stuff. Don’t be surprised if you have to nudge your temperature controller up or down by 2 to 5 degrees to get your bond strength exactly where you like it. And one more thing: check your cooling fans. A fresh lamp puts out a lot of concentrated heat. If your vents are clogged with dust, you’re putting unnecessary stress on the housing. Give them a quick blow-out with some compressed air and you’re golden.
