We pair a tungsten filament with a halogen-filled quartz envelope to get a lamp that runs hotter and hangs on longer than your typical infrared tube. The power side of things Here’s the thing about wattage and voltage: they basically dictate how much heat you’re hitting your target with. If we bump up the voltage, we can pack more power into a smaller space. If you’re running a tube at 2000W or more, you’re dealing with some serious heat density. Just a heads-up: make sure your cooling system is actually up to the task. If the housing gets too hot and the cooling fails, your lamp is going to burn out way faster than it should. Build and fit We stick with high-purity quartz because it can take a beating. You can flip the power on and off repeatedly, and it won’t crack from the thermal shock. Depending on what you’re running, we can fit these with R7s or SK15 connectors. They usually slide right into most industrial heaters without any fuss. Plus, we can add a coating to the quartz to steer the heat. It pushes the energy forward onto your workpiece instead of letting it bleed out into the machine frame. Real-world use You’ll mostly see these in plastic welding or PET blowing where speed is everything. Thanks to the halogen cycle, the filament stays clean, which means your heat output stays steady for thousands of hours. But a word of advice:keep the glass clean. Seriously. A single fingerprint or a smudge of oil can create a hot spot, and that’s how you get a shattered tube. Also, pair it with a precise SCR controller. It keeps those nasty voltage spikes from popping your filament.
