We built this ruby quartz halogen infrared heat lamp for one place: the PET blow molding machine. Its whole reason for being? Delivering intense, pinpoint heat to preforms—fast. A typical unit runs at 400V, pulls 2500W, and measures 300mm long. That power density isn’t random. It gives you snappy thermal response in a small footprint, so the heating zone can keep pace with the machine’s rhythm. And the 400V choice? It keeps the current lower, so your wiring and contactors stay simpler. You can choose between an R7s or SK15 connector. The R7s is straightforward and solid, with a rigid two-contact setup. The SK15 is more compact and keyed, ideal for tighter fixtures. Either way, they’re built to hang in there through the heat and vibration of a running blow molder.
Why Quartz, Halogen, and the Ruby Coating
The envelope is quartz, not glass, because quartz can take the shock of switching on and off over and over—and it handles the searing filament temps. The halogen cycle keeps the filament stable, sending evaporated tungsten back where it belongs. That means longer life and steady output. And that ruby coating? Not just for looks. It filters visible light and shifts the spectrum toward shortwave infrared. The result is heat that penetrates quickly and evenly, so you get fewer hot spots and better control over wall thickness during blowing.
Real-World PET Blowing—No Fluff
On the line, this lamp sits in the heating tunnel, focused right on the preform. The concentrated infrared heats the material fast enough to match the clamping and blowing sequence, so throughput stays steady. It’s a direct-fit upgrade for many machines, but here’s the honest part: that 2500W punch delivers speed, and it also needs respect. Make sure your airflow is up to the task and your fixture spacing is right. If cooling is undersized, the lamp, socket, and nearby parts run hotter—and that shortens service life. So spec the lamp, then double-check the cooling and clearances in your machine.
