
Stop the Burnout: Better IR Lamps for SIG Blomax Lines
If you’re running Aoki blowers, you know the headache. One minute everything is humming along, and the next, you’re staring at a burnt-out lamp and a dead production line. It’s frustrating. Usually, it comes down to the lamps just not being able to handle the stress of the machine. That’s why we built these replacements. We wanted to end that cycle of constant downtime. Why the standard lamps keep snapping Here’s the thing: standard quartz tubes are fragile. When a PET blowing machine cycles on and off rapidly, it creates a massive amount of thermal shock. Most lamps fail right at the pinch seal because they just can’t take the pressure. We changed the geometry of the tube and tweaked the quartz mix. It’s tougher now. It can handle those fast ramp-ups and steep temperature swings without cracking under the pressure. The nitty-gritty stuff You don’t need to call an electrician or rewire your panels. We made these as direct drop-ins. They have the exact same footprint and electrical specs as the OEM Aoki units, so they just fit. They hit the softening point of the preform in milliseconds. It’s fast. Really fast. But a quick heads-up: check your power supply before you swap them out. If your line is hitting weird voltage spikes, even a reinforced lamp is going to pop eventually. Try to keep your regulators steady within ±5% of the rated spec to keep things running smooth. Getting them in and keeping them alive Installing them is a breeze. Pull the old tube, make sure you clear out any tiny quartz shards from the reflector, and slide the new one in. Simple. Now, these are tougher, but they aren’t invincible. The biggest killer? Dust. If your reflectors get dirty, the lamp has to work twice as hard to push the heat through. That makes the filament run hotter than it should, which eats away at its life. Keep those optics clean, and you’ll get way more mileage out of every lamp.
