If you’re running mid-tier blow molding machines, you’ve probably hit that wall. You know the one. The mechanics are moving as fast as they can, but your cycle times just won’t budge because the preform isn’t hitting the right temperature. It’s frustrating. You don’t want to scrap a perfectly good machine, but you need more speed. The quickest fix? Swap those old infrared lamps for high-density quartz elements. Here’s the thing about the heat. We build our quartz lamps to crank out short-wave infrared emission. When you ditch a standard lamp for a high-wattage halogen quartz tube, you’re basically packing more heat into every square millimeter. It gets the preform to that “sweet spot” temperature way faster. Now, if you jump to a higher voltage—like moving from 220V up to 380V or 400V—you can push more power through the filament. The best part? You aren’t cranking the current so high that you risk melting your wiring. But watch out for your reflectors. If they’re pitted or looking oxidized, you’re basically throwing 30% of your energy into the air. It’s a waste. No headaches with the install. We use high-purity fused quartz so the tubes don’t warp when things get hot. And since we stick to the usual R7s or Sk15 standards, these are just drop-in replacements. You don’t have to tear apart your control cabinet or rewire everything. You just plug them in, tweak your timers, and you’re good to go. Some of our tubes even have special coatings. These help the heat sink deeper into the PET wall instead of just scorching the surface. What does this actually do for your bottom line? It shrinks the heating phase of your cycle. Just a heads-up: make sure your cooling blow-molds can keep up. If your chilling unit is too small for the new speed, you’ll start seeing deformed bottle bases.
